Komen and a Goliath Double Standard

Okay, I am sick and tired of this idea that Planned
Parenthood not getting funding from the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Awareness
fund is somehow an attack on women’s’ health.

For a long time it was largely unknown that Komen provided
Planned Parenthood with funding they say they use to provide women with
mammograms. While that might be a benign
detail to some people it is not to others that may not have been aware of that
fact. The reason it is an issue to some
people is that Planned Parenthood is an advocate for and as a business is primarily
an abortion clinic.

Planned Parenthood was founded by Margret Sanger a woman
whose mission statement was as racist as any human being in history. Here is a link on Wiki:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margaret_Sanger

But that is a side issue to the fact that Conservatives who
oppose abortion especially late term abortion will not support a foundation
that engages in financing Planned Parenthood the tic haler head of the abortion
movement. It’s a fact that Conservatives
are more active than Liberals in charity here are the stats on that: http://www.nps.gov/partnerships/fundraising_individuals_statistics.htm

If Komen goes back to providing funds to Planned Parenthood it
will slow down their ability to maintain their goals in funding all their
operations. Conservatives will simply
find other avenues to provide their support for breast cancer research through
other such organizations that respect their moral values.

Especially in light of governments new regulations involving
organizations being forced into policies on birth control, gay adoption and
abortion in general they are oppose on religious grounds. These groups are pulling out of foster care
placement programs and closing facilities because they refuse to compromise their
core principles.

Women’s health issues would be better served by maintaining
a separation between abortion clinics and breast cancer research charities; but
that’s just my opinion. I’m not judging
anyone’s “choice” but that is a completely other conversation altogether. For this one I would simply state that if
your concern is breast cancer why not provide the funding to local clinics
without the controversial baggage.

Bottom line is that if you are asking people to donate their
time and money to an organization that they would like to see out of business I
just don’t see it happening. Preaching
an emotional fantasy that these services can only be administered by Planned
Parenthood is like say Jerry Sandusky is the only guy who can coach pee-wee
football and amounts to religious dogma of another order.
