Goodbye Christianity!!! and take you label with you!!!

I don't have to put myself into the shoes of a non-radical Muslim trapped by the label of Islam in a religion tarnished by radicals and extremist, I'm there.  As conservative Americans we expect non-radical Muslims to divorce themselves from the radicals elements whom they share the title of Islamic with.  But how can we expect them to create these distinctions if we unable to do the same with the radical elements in the "Christian" movement.

As someone who was raised Missouri Sinod Lutheran, and has vivid memories of my grandfathers sermons it makes me sick to see what has become the new label of "Christianity".  My church doesn't believe in a we are "right", they are "wrong" senarios when it comes to the doctrines or the interpretations of other religions.  We don't typically attempt at converting other "Christians" to Lutheran and we have no problem welcoming them in fellowship as they exist.

I never knew what any other side of "Christianity" looked like, until I met the Mormons missionaries.  My first experiance with a radical religion was in watching these kids try converting one of my friends named Richard when I was 15y/o.  At first they just wanted to play basketball, to break the ice.  Then they wanted to pray with him and that is when they began the exposure process.  They visited with him on a regular basis using a basketball game only as an excuse if they could see he was getting cold feet to their religous pressures.  Their agenda however was blantantly obvious and their persistance often paid off.  I didn't find out until one day when I went to visit him and they came to his door to fit him for his baptismal gown.  After we sat silent hiding in his kitchen while they knocked on his door for five minutes Richard explained to me how they had baited him into getting baptised on Sunday.  They told him that a Denver Broncos football player that attended their ward (that's what they call it) named Rulon Jones would conduct the baptism.  Richard told me how he had been intitially so excited to meet Mr. Jones but had second thoughts about taking this step for those reasons. His hopes were that he would be able continue the friendship without converting to thier religon.  Unforntunatly he found out otherwise when he told them he had changed his mind and that he didn't want to become a Mormon, they never returned.  To my knowledge Richard sees this as the face of "Christianity" has has not attended any church to this day.

The Assembly of god (AOgg) religion and it's members have this same effect on the label of "Christian".  Another freind of mine has had both experiances with the Mormon religion and AOgg as a child.  The subject of religon is not something he is willing discuss with anyone, but me.  He says he believes in God but that his view of "Christianity" was tainted mainly by the actions of the AOgg.  He has often asked me what has happened to "normal" churches and I can tell he wants to find a place he could feel comfortable in.  Unfortunalty his experiances revolve around the divorcing of his parents at age 8 and how the church reacted.  He recalled how the preacher told him that he would grow up to be a homeless drug addict and his sister would become a prostitute if his parents divorced.  How the church "prayed" the demons out of his house and told the children "evil" spirits were trying to steal their souls.  In a recent conversation he told me how he had googled his former pastor Dick Waterer who is still in business and is a preacher in Tacoma, Washington.

As more and more Americans leave their traditional churches and join these sects they become more and more the majority voice of "Christianity".  I believe as such we all owe Rosie Odonnell a sincere appology with respect to condeming her comments in reference to "radical Christians" being just as dangerous as "radical Muslims".  She might not be right, but she does have a very legitimite point and if you need an example please Youtube the phrase "Jesus Camp" and you will see why.  Here is a couple links to what I see as a blasphemous perversion of the true message of Jesus Christ.

I now much better understand the comments about religion made by Neal Boortz, and I wish to take the next responsible steps in the process.  I will always believe in the Bible as the true and inspired word of God and I will continue to attend my Lutheran church on a regular basis.  However I no longer will allow anyone to indentify me as a "Christian" because I see that label as being hyjacked by the radical extremists in these videos.  What takes places in these "churches" chases more people away from any relationship with God and brainwashes others into a place where anything under the sun can be done in the name of Jesus.

2 John 1:9-11 (New International Version)

9Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. 10If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take him into your house or welcome him. 11Anyone who welcomes him shares in his wicked work.

Hebrews 6:4-6 (New International Version)

4It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, 6if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because[a]to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.

James 4:11-12 (New International Version)

11Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. 12There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?
