The GOP could learn alot by watching because there is truth to this process that almost mimics the political landscape we are faced with at this moment in time. What leaders in our party are missing is the likeability factor and the popular confidence to back it up. I overblown talent contest as an educational experiance for those watching at home sometimes moreso than it is for the contestants on stage.
What strikes me funny is and I have said this before is watching these judges is almost a comedy like watching C-SPAN if you value honest assement. Simon could be the love child of Margret Thatcher and Andrew Dice Clay with Paula, Randy, and the other babe doing their best Care Bears impression it really makes for endless entertainment.
When I watch the show Simon seems to be the only judge who consistantly gives an honest account of what he sees and hears. To his credit Randy Jackson tries very hard but he like Paula and the other babe have to much emotion influencing thier ability to critique the talent acurately on most occasions. It kind of reminds me of a political battle sometimes when they give feedback to a person. Simon may be the only one with the guts to say it but when he does he gets brow beaten by the other judges for his honesty. On the other hand just because of the emotional component the others often lie or sugar coat reality or maybe they just get caught up in the moment too much.
At any rate if you watched the first two group of twelve contestants each group is competing for three spots at the next level in the competition. To the shows credit there is more talent this year in higher numbers in my opinion than all the other years combined. But seriously when Simon says someone blew it, that person ususally goes home the next because they did. What I find amazing is how often he is ripped by the other judges for being harsh when it turns out when given the choice Americans by in large see it the same way.
Most persons who make it past the initial audition have vocal talent the goal of the show is not to find the best vocal but rather a sound and a swagger to match that excites the industries target audience. This is about who can take it to the next level and in the future sell records.
If Republicans would model their criticisms on Simon Cowell we would live in a much different country. Simon is like Rush, neither cares about the boos or hen pecking or the "yo dawg" crash pillow. Simon is the single most popular person on the show because of it. Like Limbaugh you either love Simon or you hate him. But if Simon would have caved in like the other judges have thought he should for the last however many years time after time the show would have failed. Like Simon, Rush is the one keeping it real the standard that the show's ratings reflect which also carries the banner of those of like minds.
Now I don't know Simon's politics but that is not what is on display here, Simon is a talent scout just like Rush is in a sense. The politics of conservatism is a talent show of sorts. What the GOP needs to figure out is how to display the results as acurately as the acts. We could also learn that the truth though unpopular will become popular when it is shown as fact.
On a side not Simon did miss I think a serious opportunity to give an honest opinion to one of the contestants. There was a blonde haired girl who is really pretty in the face and sings well but her full sleeve tattoo is so ugly it wrecks her whole image. I don't know why it has become not "cool" to criticize someones deliberate appearance but to all you lovely ladies out there who let people scrible on your bodies. I have just this to say tattoos are not atractive on a woman ever they make you look like a tramp and it screams trailer trash everytime I see it.
