Why Substance REALLY Matters

A year and a half ago I had puchased a puppy for my daughter.  I in trusted that the substance of the name brand pet food I fed him was as advertised.  He was perfectly healthly when we got him but he died three months later because his food was poisoned with Melamine.  The problem is that IAMS got wheat gluten from MenuFoods but ultimalty it came from China.  I believed then as I still do that IAMS had the best of intentions and would never intentionally modify food for any reason that would ever harm an animal.  However IAMS through MenuFoods was associated with a Chinese food manufaturing company that spiked it's wheat gluten with the Melamine to increase protien content for selfish and financial reasons.  My point is IAMS killed my dog through business relations.   IAMS may not really be able to control every aspect of it's business unless it grows and processes all the elements of it's final product.  Nor was IAMS aware that Chinese wheat gluten contained Melamine and may not have even been aware the source of the products they purchased from MenuFoods.  However with that said they are ultimatly responsible for the products they put their name on.

Just like Barrack Huesein Obama, and his relations.  No president can control every thing that comes across his desk, the president appoints people who he trusts to make decisions on some of the most important issues of our nations security.   Our current problem in our economic problems involve the best of intentions but also a poison.  The problem started in the Carter administration with his signing of the Community Reinvestment Act.  But that's not all under Jimmy Carter good intentions woefully applied started the war on terrorism we are fighting to this day.  He did that by involving himself in foreign policy he didn't understand and he removed the Shah of Iran.

Now public opinion might look at Bush as the culpret on both of these issues, just like dog owners blamed food manufacturer instead of the supplier or the manufacturer.  While Bush may have a right in a share consistant with his direct involvement.  He didn't light the fire and when he saw it burning he didn't walk away and pass the buck.  Sometimes it takes longer to fix a problem that has festered in a system and considering there have been three other presidents between Carter and Bush blaming him is absurd.  Clinton says he tried to fix it he either lied or failed in doing so.

Substance does matter, because bad decisions made by a person with as much power as a US president can last long past his term.  There is no way we can lightly dismiss friends and associations of this person, it's not racist, it's not meant to cause pain to that person either, it is the only tool the public has to protect the policies on our great nation.  It is my opinion in reading historical accounts that "watergate" is the most infamous political scandel involving presidential politics.  On the heels of an injured GOP brand we elected Carter without really vetting his true qualifications and intents.

I could be wrong but Reagan was always a partisan he never caved into liberalism on principle.
